Let the people count the votes!
VoteSafe2008.com, is a non-partisan citizen journalism project we have been spearheading recently. The recent trends within our electoral process, are torwards an unverifiable "black box", "don't look behind the curtain", corporate media controlled process that declaratively preempts any efforts to allow a fair an transparent democratic process from taking place.

Colorado and Ohio have admitted that they are unable to demonstrate the reliability of the multimillion dollar, touch screen, magic eight ball type devices, now being used in almost every voting precinct across the country. The two NY Times articles above prove how effective grassroots activists can be in their efforts to demand accountability from state local and state representatives. The separation between the will of the people and those who lead, could prove to be the most urgent national issue we face today. “I cannot think of anything more important than to save the core of our democracy — the vote!" — David Earnhardt
New Hampshire is unique in that, they still hand count paper ballots in about half of the states municipalities. They deserve to be celebrated for their commitment to an electoral process that remains in the hands of the people. Thats why VoteSafe2008.com is inviting supporters of all candidates to join us on January 8th as we bring a group of individuals, Mainers, citizen journalists, fulfilling a civic duty and as welcome guests to the Somersworth area of New Hampshire. By documenting the ways in which adjacent municipalities each decide to count their paper ballots, some count by machine others by hand. We hope to inspire and inform, similarly minded groups and individuals, throughout the country as the pace of primary season increases. By having eyes and ears at the precincts, we can demonstrate our commitment to fair and verifiable election, even in municipalities where the current status quo would make it impossible for anyone to prove the legitimacy if it's vote.
There are thankfully no modems in any of the mechanical vote count machines throughout New Hampshire. Most communities in almost every one of the remaining 48 states, rely on incresingly complex networks of computers to compile but not verify, potentially arbitrary percentages assigned to each candidate, by a for profit corprate network that has been proven to be almost universally corruptible.
Please email us for information on how you can help this January 8th in NH(free Tshirt-transportation-and lunch). Contact us for help or advice on documenting the events of an upcoming primary in your state. Don't wait until November to get involved because it may be too late.
